Road safety in Repton |
||
|
The village of Repton has been experiencing considerable traffic pressure in relation to roadworks near St Wystan's Church on Willington Road this week.
On Monday afternoon the situation was made worse when traffic lights became stuck on red.
Police were on site at the time and stopped to investigate.
Through partnership working with the Chair of Repton's Community Incident Group and Councillor Matt Benfield from Derbyshrie County Council (pictured), a swift response was secured from Highways and the Traffic Management Team.
Despite this, a number of motorists elected to conduct themselves in a poor manner. Some drivers decided that red lights were more of a suggestion, and aggressive behaviour was reported, even from the senior community.
Councillor Benfield and your local officer have continued to liaise with Highways and the Traffic Management company and improvements have been made to encourage a better flow of traffic at the location.
With a few more days of the work planned, drivers are being encouraged not to take out aggression on the people in attendance who are doing their best to sort out the issue.
Thank you.
